Poseidon Sculpture

I chose this sculpture of Poseidon because he is a very powerful  mythological god.  Poseidon is the god of the sea, protector of the waters.  I feel the most relaxed and "at home" when I am somewhere with water, like the beach.  This sculpture is located at Copenhagen Port in Demark. The city it is in, Gothenburg, is coastal city.  It was sculpted by Swedish artist Carl Milles in 1931.  I could not find anything on why the sculpture was put there or for what reason.

Baltimore's National Aquarium

This is the National Baltimore Aquarium.  I chose this as my structure of the week because since I was a child this has always been one of my favorite places to go. I have always loved the different pieces that make up this building.  The different colors and materials that are put together.  Baltimore has a lot of interesting and different architecture that makes up the city.  The Aquarium took 3 years to build and opened to the public in 1981.  The National Aquarium, Baltimore’s initial conceptual design, architecture and exhibit design was led by Peter Chermayeff of Peter Chermayeff LLC during a period of Urban Renewal in the city.
